Joseph McHugh is an accomplished fire and life safety professional bringing more than 27 years of FDNY experience to the Croker team.  Having achieved the rank of Battalion Chief, McHugh has been responsible for the overall safety of FDNY members at major fires, emergencies and catastrophic events.  He has attended incident response courses to school bomb incidents and terrorist bombings at the New Mexico Tech Energetic Research and Testing Center, the West Point Counter Terrorism Leadership Program, as well as successfully completed the Fire Officers Management Institute (FOMI) at Columbia University.

McHugh holds a seat on the NFPA 1500 Committee (Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program) for the FDNY and is Safety Officer for the FDNY Incident Management Team.  McHugh is a recipient of the M.J. Delehanty Medal in 2004 , which is awarded annually to one member of the FDNY whose distinguished service in the line of duty receives recognition by the Board of Merit of the Fire Department.  He also received four unit citations from the FDNY for outstanding performance of duties as well as the World Trade Center Medal.

McHugh holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven.
