Doug Spano served as a New York City firefighter for 23 years. In addition to performing duties of fire suppression and ongoing training in firefighting techniques, he participated in public education tasks including school visits, demonstrations, and administering first aid, CPR oxygen therapy, and defibrillator training as a Certified First Responder. Prior to joining the Croker team, Spano worked for over 10 years as a Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan Operations consultant where he successfully conducted over 3,000 drills in New York City, Boston and New Jersey, including but not restricted to, fire drills, emergency action plan (EAP) drills and full building evacuation drills.
Spano has received Recognitions of Participation by the International Code Council (ICC) in 2008 and by New York City Fire Code Fundamentals in 2010. He also participated in the rescue and recovery effort following the attack of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
